The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy
The degree of Doctor of Philosophy is awarded for original research in the field of endeavour.
Ph D Degrees are by thesis alone which would normally be completed in 2 to 3 years.
To enrol for a Doctoral Degree a student must have either completed a Masters Degree by thesis or have an Honours degree of First Class or otherwise satisfy the Dean of the Faculty as to their suitability.
Students wishing to pursue the degree of Doctor of Philosophy need to liaise with the Department concerned and come to an agreement with a member of staff in that Department qualified to supervise the research project. A research topic title needs to be submitted and once that (or a negotiated alternative) is accepted the student may proceed to enrol.
